Chinese New Year Celebration in Islamabad Highlights China-Pakistan Cooperation

On January 11, 2025, Islamabad, Pakistan, hosted a grand celebration for the Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival. The event attracted over 500 attendees, including overseas Chinese and Pakistani guests. Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, praised China’s economic and social achievements in 2024, highlighting the strong progress in China-Pakistan cooperation. He expressed optimism for the coming year, encouraging overseas Chinese to continue supporting their homeland and fostering deeper bilateral ties.

Event Celebrates Growing China-Pakistan Ties in 2025

The Event Featuredcultural stalls showcasing traditional Chinese calligraphy, artwork, and rare collections of Chinese nuts and stones, offering a glimpse into China’s rich cultural heritage.

Guests enjoyed authentic Chinese cuisine, including dumplings, noodles, and hot pots, while being entertained by vibrant cultural performances.

Hassan Daud Butt, former CEO of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment & Trade, emphasized the importance of such events for promoting cultural exchange. The celebration, organized by the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, the Pakistan Overseas Chinese Association, and the China Chamber of Commerce in Pakistan, was a highlight ahead of the Spring Festival, which this year marks the Year of the Snake, starting on January 29.
